How do you solve hidoku?
The most important way to solve hidoku is to work out the possible options for each cell. Sometimes you will find that there is instantly only one option and in which case you can place it.
For instance, if you were to have only one route to get between two numbers that are placed in the grid, then you can place the cell(s) on that route.
On other occasions, you will have a couple of possibilities, but by looking between a larger set of numbers, you will find that the possibility narrows and you can reduce the options in a cell that way.
One strategy you will sometimes find you can use is that you don't know where a number goes, but you know that it must go in, say, one of two cells - and therefore if you have a competing solving path that requires both of those cells, then you can discount that solve path, because you know that another number must go in one of those cells.
Isolation is another method you can use - if a particular solve path would isolate a cell (meaning that you can't get both into and out of the cell, unless it is the first or last cell in the puzzle - means that you can discount that possible solve path. This is especially useful when you are at a corner or when you are not at an 'open' part of solving the puzzle but only have a few possible routes left to think through.
