What is samurai sudoku?
Samurai sudoku is a generic name that sounds dramatic, but simply refers to any sudoku puzzle that has more than one grid overlapping.
Therefore a 16x16 or 25x25 sudoku, whilst much larger than the standard puzzle, are not strictly samurai puzzles.
However a grid with 2 overlapping grids is a samurai sudoku.
Samurai sudokus can have any number of overlapping grids - for instance 2, 3, 4, 5, or even more... our largest standard one for instance has 11 grids, though in theory any number could be added.
There are also different ways the regions can overlap. Most common is to share a box region, but for instance much larger overlaps are possible.
In a star sudoku, infact the middle puzzle is composed entirely from regions from four other sudoku puzzles!
